We know that parking in urban cities can be woeful (which is the very reason we started Share with Oscar). Many may not realise, but parking is indeed a complex problem with many constituents in the ecosystem (Local council, parking operators, parking tech, landlords, property developers… this list goes on). A perennial problem that every city in the world is trying to crack.

Last week, our co-founder Lisa Qi, was invited onto the panel at the NSW Government Parking Summit alongside Secure Parking, Wilson Parking Australia, Duncan Solutions – Australia, and UbiPark to participate in a discussion on how Government, the Parking Industry and startups like Share with Oscar can collaborate to improve the parking experience for NSW citizens.

It’s clear that parking is fundamental to every city. The industry is fragmented, with a multitude of players in parking technology, parking operators, however traditionally the industry has been slow to respond to digital disruption.

What’s clear is that parking matters. It impacts our daily lives, business activity, and economic productivity. It’s fantastic to hear the government backing the Share with Oscar parking model for sharing private parking infrastructure like driveways. Looking forward to the path ahead.
