Our Campaign: Share with Oscar’s COVID Appeal

With the population locked down at home, this meant that cars that would have normally driven to work, were now permanently parked on the streets. With the pandemic exacerbating the parking challenges near hospitals, healthcare workers who work late hours were having to park a 30min walk away from the hospital.

In response to this, we launched an appeal asking anyone or any business nearby to a hospital to make their parking space available to healthcare workers for free during the pandemic.

The appeal went national. It was picked up by news outlets such as Channel 7, SBS, shared and tweeted, endorsed by local councils (e.g. Randwick City Council), with Universities (e.g. UNSW) and corporates (e.g. Optus) jumping on board as well as NSW Health.

When we launched our appeal at the height of the pandemic to rally the community to support healthcare workers, we weren’t certain about what the future was going to look like for Share with Oscar. We threw ourselves into this campaign because it was something that gave the team a sense of purpose when everything else around us seemed so out of our control.

What we learned from this is that as a business, no matter how big or small, when you give back to the community, people want to be a part of it, and we developed so many great business relationships as a result of this campaign.

The goodwill that we garnered, the advocacy, the media attention and the brand positivity is something that we are still reaping the rewards of today.

So, a huge thank you to all those that contributed to the cause.
